Nettle Honey

Nettle is an invaulable herb in treating a variety of skin conditions. Its sap detoxifies the blood and revives the body. Leaves are a rich source of chlorophyll, vitamins and minerals.
The recipe for nettle honey comes from one of the books of a famous Polish herbalist, Stefania Korzawska. She says that a healthy and clear complexion is a real treasure. So today, I want to encourage you to look after that treasure! Instead of shopping for the latest cosmetics of famous, but often overpriced brands, I am inviting you to the parks, meadows and your own gardens to gather fresh nettles. Seemingly dangerous, in reality it's harmless. It's a panacea for skin ailments and ilnesses.

Ingredients:
  • about 20 handfuls of fresh, young nettle leaves
  • 1 litre of raw honey

NOTE: We only use leaves and stems. Do not use flowers or the flourishing parts.

Preparation:

  1. Wash and dry the nettle.
  2. Now, extract the juice. This can be done in two ways. Use a juice extractor or a meat mincer. If you use the meat mincer, first mince the nettles. Then, prepare a sieve  and lay it with a muslin cloth. Place the minced pulp in and squeeze well to extract the juice.
  3. Prepare the proportions 1:3 - 1 cup of the nettle juice and 3 cups of honey.
  4. Pour the juice into a pot together with honey and stir well.
  5. Pour the nettle honey into jars and store in a fridge or a dark dry place (e.g. a cupboard).
You can add this honey to drinks, smoothies and teas. Or simply, drink it with (preferably warm) water. Add 1-2 teaspoons to a glass of water. Drink twice a day.
