These famous oat bars are hard to beat. Not only are they easy and speedy to make, but they taste delicious. And the smell permeating the kitchen when you bake them - hypnotising!
Ingredients:
- 400 g oats
- 200 g unsalted butter
- 170 g molasses, or demerara sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
- a pinch of ground ginger
Preparation:
- Preheat the oven to 170° C and line a 32x25 cm tin with baking paper.
- Melt the butter, molasses and vanilla sugar in a saucepan over a low heat. Once the molasses is dissolved and the butter is melted, remove from the heat, stir in the oats and add the ginger.
- Tip the mixture into the prepared baking tin and even by pressing down with a spoon.
- Bake in the oven for about 30-40 minutes or until golden.
- Remove from the oven and leave to cool completely before cutting.
- Cut into squares.
